More About Tracy

Paediatric Speech & Language Therapist

I am an experienced paediatric speech and language therapist with over 19 years of experience supporting children and their families across the UK and South Africa. I hold a Bachelor of Communication Pathology degree from the University of KwaZulu-Natal.

Throughout my career, I have worked in a wide range of settings including private practice, schools, clinics, and community health services. In these varied settings, my interest has always been in helping children with dyslexia and developing their phonological awareness skills and their auditory perceptual skills.

My passion lies in helping children develop confidence in their communication and reach their full potential in everyday life.

My key areas of expertise include:

  • Receptive and expressive language difficulties

  • Speech sound delays (articulation and phonological difficulties)

  • Auditory perceptual and auditory processing difficulties (linked to dyslexia)

  • Autism spectrum differences, including social communication and emotional regulation

  • Fluency and written language support

I take a warm, child-led approach, believing that therapy works best when parents and caregivers feel informed, supported, and involved. Sessions are practical, engaging, and tailored to each child’s unique strengths and needs.

Alongside my clinical experience, I have completed ongoing professional development in areas such as Developmental Language Delay, Shape-Coding, Makaton, Autism, working memory, and child development, ensuring my therapy remains evidence-based and current.

As a therapist — and a parent myself — I understand how important it is for families to feel listened to and supported. I feel privileged to walk alongside children and families on their communication journey and to celebrate every step of progress, big or small.

Services

Speech Sound Difficulty

Speech Therapy Session

Speech sound difficulties occur when a child finds it challenging to produce sounds or sound patterns that are expected for their age, which can make their speech unclear and hard to understand. These difficulties often involve substituting, omitting, or distorting sounds (for example, saying “tar” instead of “car”). Early intervention is important to support the development of clear communication skills and to address any possible underlying causes.

Language Delays

Child Reading Book

Language differences occurs when a child develops language skills at a  slower rate than expected for their age. It may involve difficulties with understanding language (e.g. understanding concepts and following instructions, understanding different vocabulary),  expressing thoughts and needs (e.g. correct formulation of sentences, grammar and vocabulary), or processing information.

Phonological Awareness Skills and Literacy

Colorful Alphabet Letters

Phonological awareness delays occurs when a child has difficulty recognizing, manipulating, and processing the sound structure of language, such as identifying rhymes, counting syllables, or isolating individual phonemes. These challenges can contribute to early literacy skills.

Social Communication

Children Outdoor Reading

Social communication refers to the use of verbal (spoken language) and nonverbal (such as body language, eye contact, and facial expressions) skills to interact, communicate, share and connect appropriately with others across different social contexts. It is essential for building relationships, interpreting social cues (such as humor or sarcasm), and successfully navigating daily environments like home and school.

Support for Schools and Parents

Hands In Unity

I provide support and advise to schools and parents on how best to develop and support the child's communication needs.

Client Feedback

Trixi - Parent from Walton-on-Thames

"Our son Luca has been in therapy with Tracy for app. the last 3 years. He quickly gets overwhelmed and Tracy always manages to keep Luca engaged by skillfully adapting the program to his needs. Luca has picked up so much over the years which we greatly attribute to Tracy’s input! We highly recommend her!"

Children Playing Together

Tanya - Parent in Fetcham

'We are so grateful for the incredible support our daughter has had from Tracy. She is patient, kind and she connected with our child straight away. We’ve seen real improvement in both her speech and her self-confidence. Our daughter looks forward to her sessions! Thank you Tracy!'

Amy - Parent in Fetcham

"I can’t recommend Tracy enough, she was a pleasure to deal with and is absolutely fantastic with children. Tracy worked wonders with my 4/5 year old boy who was struggling with quite a few sounds and would often get frustrated when he couldn’t be understood. A few months of Tracy working her magic, making Charlie’s sessions super fun and engaging, and we now have a happy little boy who no longer struggles with his speech."
